Description

At 7:41 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts and up to nickel size hail. This severe thunderstorm is located 17 kilometres west of Port Albert, moving southeast at 50 km/h. Hazard: 90 km/h wind gusts and nickel size hail. Locations impacted include: Goderich, Point Farms Provincial Park, Port Albert, Benmiller, Auburn and St. Augustine. ### Large hail may cause significant damage and injury. Severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.

Instruction

Take immediate cover if a thunderstorm approaches. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

Description

Squalls with wind gusts up to 35 knots, frequent lightning and hail up to 3 centimetres are expected or occurring in the area. Thunderstorms over southern portions of Lake Huron are moving east at 20 knots. Wind gusts near 35 knots are possible with these thunderstorms. The possibility of additional thunderstorms with wind gusts of 45 knots are possible through the afternoon and evening. ### Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
