Note

Service Notice – June 2025: The Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) CAP Service undergoes changes from time to time as the business of alerting evolves. For 2025, changes are expected to include... 1) ECCC's initiative to upgrade the presentation of alerts into Colour-Coded Weather Alerts is planned for deployment for later in 2025. Data changes will appear in CAP-CP upon this deployment, 2) SAME event codes for a few alert types are updated and 3) other minor improvements and corrections.

Description

At 4:28 p.m. PDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. The cluster of thunderstorms are located near Slocan Lake and are moving northeastwards at 50 km/h. The cluster of thunderstorms will impact the communities near Slocan Lake and on Highway 6 from Passmore to Summit Lake within the next hour. ### Heavy rain may cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain. Road conditions are available at https://www.drivebc.ca/.

Instruction

Take immediate cover if a thunderstorm approaches. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
