At 3:39 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to toonie size hail and heavy rain. A cluster of severe thunderstorms is affecting the region. These thunderstorms are capable of producing the following: Hazard: Toonie size hail and 90 km/h wind gusts. A tornado is also possible. Locations impacted include: Groundhog River Waterway Provincial Park, Cochrane, Abitibi, Abitibi-De-Troyes Provincial Park, Hunta, Potter, Dunning, Mistango Lake, Kirke, Low Bush, Lake Abitibi / Lac Abitibi, Eades and Okikodosik Bay. ### Damage to roofs, fences, soft shelters or trees is likely. Large hail may cause significant damage and injury. Severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.

Instruction

Take immediate cover if a thunderstorm approaches. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
