Note

Description

At 00:30 on August 29, 2025, the Santai County Meteorological Observatory continued to issue a blue warning signal for strong winds: it is expected that our county will still be affected by strong winds in the next 12 hours, with an average wind force of 6 or above or gusts of 7 or above. Close doors and windows, reinforce structures such as enclosures, sheds, and billboards that are easily moved by the wind, cut off outdoor hazardous power sources as appropriate, properly place outdoor items that are susceptible to strong winds, and cover building materials; 4. Pay attention to road and driving safety, and do not stay near billboards, temporary structures, etc. when it is windy.

Note

Description

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. The Standby Signal, No. 1 is in force. This means that a tropical cyclone now centred within about 800 kilometres of Hong Kong may affect us. At 8 a.m., the tropical depression over the central and northern parts of the South China Sea was estimated to be about 680 kilometres south of Hong Kong (near 16.2 degrees north 113.2 degrees east) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the seas south of Hainan Island. The tropical depression over the central and northern parts of the South China Sea moved steadily towards the seas south of Hainan Island this morning. It will continue to move westwards and intensify slightly today. It will be closest to Hong Kong in the early afternoon, skirting around 600 kilometres or more from the territory. Unless the tropical depression adopts a track closer to the coast of Guangdong, the chance of persistent strong winds generally over the territory will be relatively low. The Standby Signal, No. 1 will remain in force at least until 6 p.m today. Under the combined effect of the tropical depression and the ridge of high pressure over southeastern China, local winds will be occasionally strong today over parts of the territory, including offshore and on high ground. The outer rainbands associated with the tropical depression will bring a few showers to the coast of Guangdong later today. There will be swells. Members of the public should stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports.

Instruction

1. Precautions should be taken. Drains should be cleared of obstructions, and windows and doors should be checked. 2. Those who have duties during a tropical cyclone should now remain on call. 3. People planning to visit Guangdong, Macau, outlying islands or remote parts of Hong Kong should note that changes in weather may affect your trips. 4. Fishing vessels and low power vessels in open sea should seek shelter as soon as possible and be secured properly with moorings. 5. Construction and property management practitioners should make sure that overhanging facilities and temporary structures outdoors are securely fastened, and should take precautionary measures. 6. Listen to radio, watch TV or browse the Hong Kong Observatory's website and mobile app for the latest information on the tropical cyclone.
