In northeast Kansas, Brown, Jackson, Jefferson, Marshall, Nemaha, Pottawatomie and Riley. * WHEN...From late tonight through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms will be possible tonight across portions of the watch area which may produce heavy rainfall. A second round of storms is likely Sunday night into early Monday morning. The second round is where the higher concern comes for flooding due to excessive rainfall from slow moving and training storms along a frontal boundary which will be stalled across the area. Generally, 2 to 3 inches of rainfall could fall in a 3-6 hour period with higher amounts possible across areas that see repeated storms.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 105. * WHERE...Douglas, Lyon, Osage, Shawnee, and Jefferson Counties. * WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke.

Instruction

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles.
