At 722 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Soils are saturated from heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, especially over northern Benton County. Additional heavy rain is expected this morning with rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. As a result, flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Vinton, Marengo, Belle Plaine, Atkins, Walford, Urbana, Shellsburg, Newhall, Blairstown, Van Horne, Keystone, Norway, Garrison, Mount Auburn, Luzerne, Benton County Fairgrounds, Rodgers Park, Hoefle-Dulin Park, Vinton Memorial Airport and Benton City Park. This includes Interstate 380 between mile markers 40 and 48.
