At 545 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Alpine to 13 miles west of Afton. These storms were nearly stationary. HAZARD...Very heavy rain is falling from these storms and localized flooding is possible. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Isolated flooding of rural roads, campgrounds, and hiking trails is possible. Locations impacted include... Southern Palisades Reservoir, Diamond Creek Campground, Smokey Canyon Mine, areas near Freedom, and areas near Alpine Airport.
Instruction
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until these storms pass.

In Wyoming, the Dollar Lake wildfire north-northwest of Pinedale will continue to push smoke into the Upper Green River Basin given the prevailing wind direction. HEALTH INFORMATION...The Wyoming Department of Health recommends that the elderly, young children, and individuals with respiratory problems avoid excessive physical exertion and minimize outdoor activities during this time. Wildfire smoke is made up of a variety of pollutants, including particulate matter and ozone, which can cause respiratory health effects. Although these people are most susceptible to health impacts, the Department of Health also advises that everyone should avoid prolonged exposure to poor air quality conditions. CURRENT CONDITIONS...The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Air Quality Division offers near real-time air quality data for Wyoming's monitoring stations and health effects information to help the public interpret current conditions.
